Loading ramps for anything and everything

I must get out more!

I have a passion for Loading Ramps, I just love the thrill of driving a vehicle or machine on or off of a truck or trailer or whatever. Each to their own but this gives me a real adrenalin fix!

I have had some on and off moments, imagine this: You are driving a 10 ton tracked excavator up a pair of old rusty iron homemade ramps onto a trailer that is 4 feet off the ground. Suddenly and without warning one of the ramps collapses, you are sat inside the cab of the excavator as the machine lurches over, seemingly in slow motion. There is no adrenalin rush this time, just a sense of terror! As a reflex action you flick the control lever to slew the jib of the excavator in the direction of the fall. Of course it's too late to save the impending crash but the jib hits the ground a split second before the tumbling machine and just prevents the cab from hitting the ground.

Phew! Terror gone - adrenalin big fix!

There was very little damage done in this little escapade and nobody was hurt but it could have been so different.

Since that episode I have always used ramps that are made for the job, bought from an experienced manufacturer, made to withstand the stresses and strains for the required weight load.
